During Golden Week 2007 we visited Kyoto. During our stay we went to one of the famous traditional "furoshiki" or cloth wrapping stores. The quality and colour of the material was amazing. We even got to see the furoshiki that Mick Jagger bought last year!
A friend asked me to buy her obento bako here in Japan. I sent them with beautiful ohashi (chopsticks). She has trouble using them well and I promised to make a video. This is the first in a two part series. The second one is called "How to CHEAT Using Chopsticks."
We took you on an adventure during the planting of the rice seedlings back during Golden Week in May. Now it is time for the harvest of this golden staple of Japan.
Follow us as we meander around the rice paddies ("tambo") enjoying the morning breeze, and smelling the fragrant aroma of freshly cut rice.
In this last episode, Stefnee takes Cam to her Garden of Eden and shows her all of the fruits (and vegetables) of her labour.
Stefnee & Cam relax on the hamock for a final farewell to everyone who took the time to share these unforgettable adventures with us!
We love you!

We get a lot of snow here, and our trees grow a lot in one year. So, every year we pay for the Silver Center to send a few gardeners to trim trim trim our yard.
I wonder how much it is going to cost this year?
Yesterday when I was ootnaboot I picked up a frypan that is specifically made for cooking Japanese-style omelettes. And this morning, when I was about to try it out, I thought to myself, "Hmmm... I bet the rest of the world has never seen a frypan shaped like this." So I decided to make this video for you!
I went for a massage today at one of the studios run by the company where Mayu is learning massage therapy. There I show you some interesting toilet technology
Today Mayu wanted to head up to Eiheiji Temple, about 30 minutes from our home to take some photos of the "koyo", or autumn leaves because the temple grounds are full of the most beautiful Japanese maple, and other trees that turn gorgeous colours for autumn.
We will be going back...

A full day of a common tradition in Japanese villages has been squeezed into eight minutes. If you don't have time for 8 minutes, then you don't have time for tradition!
Today I decided to go for an autumn ride. It has been some time since I have spent time on my bike. I took a simple ride up my "ura yama" for 40 minutes to "thinking rock", and then a bit beyond. When things got mushy, I turned around and came down.
I saw that one of the old persimmon trees bore fruit so I took one and tried it....
